Empowering communities for sustainable water and soil management.
"To protect our natural resources and ensure a healthy environment for future generations."
The Volusia County Soil & Water Conservation District (VCSWCD) is a local government agency that works with residents, landowners, and land managers on a voluntary basis to help people care for land and water. Our work is geared toward keeping lands and waters healthy and sustaining farms, forests, wildlife and communities.
We provide numerous programs and events to address governmental Clean Water Act mandates for communities within Volusia county. Programs include conservation education, watershed protection, school programs and opportunities to engage in conservation activities such as stream cleanups, soil restoration, water quality monitoring, and tree planting programs.
VCSWCD is led by an elected board of supervisors. Our board of supervisors consists of five elected officials who serve four year terms. Board members set policy and help guide and execute the strategic plan.

The VCSWCD promotes backyard beekeeping to provide hands-on education about pollinators and their critical role in local ecosystems. The program supports sustainable beekeeping practices that strengthen biodiversity and food security.
The VCSWCD organizes Cleanup Days to provide opportunities for residents to directly protect waterways, parks, and natural spaces. These events foster community pride while reducing pollution and improving the health of local ecosystems.
The VCSWCD coordinates tree planting initiatives to provide long-term benefits for soil stability, water quality, and wildlife habitat. Each event engages volunteers in building a greener, more resilient Volusia County for future generations.
The VCSWCD participates in the NACD Poster Contest to provide youth with creative ways to explore conservation themes. The contest inspires the next generation of environmental stewards through art, education, and friendly competition.
The VCSWCD supports the Florida Envirothon to provide students with hands-on learning in forestry, soils, wildlife, aquatics, and current environmental issues. This statewide competition builds tomorrow’s conservation leaders.
The VCSWCD meets at 5pm every 2nd Wednesday of the month in the Auditorium of the Volusia County Agriculture Center.
